We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas...we did! We had a great few days running from Alabama to South Carolina to Tennessee...and back. It was a great time...hopefully we'll have some pictures up soon. Anyway...
And now, for a story...
A few nights ago Lyndsay went to bed early because she had to get up for work at 5:00 AM, as usual. I (Scott) decided to stay up a bit longer...it was about 8:00 PM, and I wasn't quite ready for bed yet. A bit later, I decided it was time, so I headed off to bed. As I was getting in, Lyndsay rolled over and said, "...I don't know how we're going to get across the river..."
Realizing that this was her talking in her sleep (though her eyes were periodically opening and closing), I decided to seize the moment. "Across the river?" I asked. "What are our options?"
A pause. "...raccoon?" She replied. I didn't really know what this meant, so I asked again if there were any other ways. "...we could swim..." she said. "Well yeah," I replied, trying to get a reaction out of her, "but what about our stuff?"
She paused, rolled her eyes, shrugged, and went back to bed. I laughed and did the same.
I'm not sure if we made it across the river or not. I asked the next morning, but she didn't remember.

Miracles of Jesus
While I have your attention, I'll make a quick shameless plug here. Brock Gill (www.brockgill.com), an illusionist that we manage, has a program coming on the Discovery Channel this Saturday (Christmas Eve) at 1 PM EST. It's a three hour documentary called "The Miracles of Jesus." It takes an in-depth look at the miracles Jesus did, from the standpoint of asking, "Could this be done through a trick, magic, or an illusion?" It's quite a show...and does a great job of showing the Christian viewpoint, which is uncommon for most of what makes it on TV these days. It's quite a production -- BBC and Discovery Channel produced it together, and it's the most expensive religious documenatry they've ever made.
For those of you from Tennessee, Brock and this documentary were featured on the cover of The Tennessean(the Nashville newspaper) yesterday! It was on the front of one of the sections, but they even put his picture at the top of the main cover as a teaser for the inside article. We got a copy here at the office. It's a great article. Check it out if you have access to it. You can read the article online here: http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051220/ENTERTAINMENT12/512200309
Anyway, you should watch it. At three hours, it's a long time to sit on Christmas Eve...I'd put your Tivo or VCR on to record it. If you don't do that, watch the second and/or third hour. Those were my favorites.

Christmas Cards are out!
Our Christmas Newsletter is finally mailed! In fact, that’s probably why you’re here—you got the card and came to check it out. Welcome! I hope you enjoy our little weblog. We’d love to know how you are doing too. Send us email at scott@greshamhill.com or lmfrankl@samford.edu...we’d love to hear from you! Also, you can leave comments here by clicking the underlined word “comments” after each post.
Currently it’s early morning, Wednesday December 21. Lyndsay is already at work, in the middle of her three day non-stop schedule. Bleh. I’m much happier with 8 hour days…I think that they are much more enjoyable than 12s.
Also, at some point yesterday afternoon our heater decided to quit working. We didn’t realize it until last night when we went to bed. It’s currently 65 degrees in our main room and 52 in the bedroom! It’s not too bad…we just put on an extra jacket when we come inside. The properties company opens in a few minutes, so I’m about call and see what they can do. Alright, it’s really hard to type in the cold, so I’m going to go now. Talk to you later!

Christmas Party!
Friday night we had a Christmas party at Carter's house. It was a blast--sausage balls, dirty santa, watching "Elf,"--just the kind of party to put you in the Christmas spirit. Lyndsay and I got there late because Lyndsay had to work late, and when we arrived all the food was made and the party was going. While making the gingerbread men, though, Carter, Kelli, and whoever else was there thought of me and made a gingerbread man in my likeness! It was approximately 2.5 times taller than all the other gingerbread men, and much better looking (and delicious!). Here's a picture of me and Carter with it.

Carter gave Chris an extra-special Christmas present...a Diamond Dallas Page Talking Wresting Buddy! Vintage 1993, the talking wrestling buddy is a stuffed toy you can throw around and as you do, he'll talk to you, saying things like "NWO, I don't think so!" He even knows his body parts, somewhat, and when you hold his arm he'll say, "Uhh, my aching... pause... left.. arm!" It's a hoot to play with. Find one for yourself on Ebay today.

Santa lives in Irondale!
This past weekend our friend Heather came to town. Heather is moving out here to work with Scott at Vertical Ministries. She came out to Birmingham to visit, see the town, and most importantly, find an apartment.
We set out with her on Saturday morning on a mission to help her find an apartment. The first neighborhood we went to was Sharpsburg Manor right between Irondale and Mountain Brook where our friends Delanie and Serena live.
As we pulled into the complex, much to our surprise, Santa and an Elf came walking out of the apartment office! Whether Santa lives in Sharpsburg Manor or was just visitng wasn't quite clear, but the office was buzzing with Christmas cheer...there was Karaoke, free food, and all sorts off other crazy stuff. But before we left, we got our picture to prove it. We're still not sure where Heather is going to live, but the hunt was quite entertaining.

Scott...Wheres my CD?!?!?!
Scott??!! Where’s my CD?!?!?!
Yesterday while out doing some Christmas shopping, we were browsing through a music store and saw the Mariah Carey Christmas CD. Lyndsay freaked out, because it was her favorite Christmas CD and she lost her copy of it. Even more exciting was the fact that for this holiday season, it had been re-released on Dual-Disc. “What’s Dual-Disc?” Lyndsay asked in the store. I explained that the disc had two sides…one was a CD, and if you flip it over, it’s a DVD. But for her, it was really just twice many areas on a disc for her to put her fingerprints all over.
So we bought the album and took it home. I put it in the DVD player while we were cleaning up the apartment so we could listen to it. I was doing dishes, and she decided she was done cleaning and pulled the disc out of the DVD player. “Scott, where did you put the Mariah Carey CD?” she asked rather frantically. I came around the corner into the room, and there she was, holding the disc. “I think you have it,” I answered. “No I don’t!” she answered, “this is the DVD—I need the CD! Where did you put the CD? I can’t find it anywhere!” I told her that I was pretty sure I remembered where I left it…could she turn the disc over?
Sure enough, the CD was right were I remembered leaving it...on the backside of the DVD.
Oh yeah, and Lyndsay found her keys today.

A picture of us
Here is a picture of us, taken on my (Scott) birthday in March of 2004. Some nice guy at the botanical gardens in Birmingham offered to take our picture. He did a good job. It's normally much larger, but I'm trying to get it on our profile so I had to shrink it down...

The first post of the exciting life of Scott and Lyndsay Crews
Today I (Lyndsay) lost my keys again. Most of the time, it would be just another fun game but today I was frantic. I had a meeting to be at in 30 minutes of realizing that I lost my keys, so immediately I called Scott. He has officially become the my personal designated key finder, but today he told me to call someone else because he was too busy. I, on the verge of tears, called Crissy and explained to her about the situation in which she gladly came to pick me up. I am officially the worst bum/friend in the world. If you're wondering, I made it to my meeting only five minutes late which is perfectly normal for me and Crissy's boss was very understanding. (AKA he never knew) Just another day in the life of Lyndsay Crews. By the way, I still haven't found my keys.
