We have returned from our cruise!
We had a great time. Having never been before, we didn't know what to expect. When we boarded and went to our cabin, we found a "Happy Anniversary" cake sitting on the table by our bed. Lyndsay was thrilled--she gave me a big hug and said "That's so sweeeeet!" in her really high pitched giddy voice. I said "You're welcome" thinking "...how did this get here? I didn't order a cake..." I thought through it and realized that our travel agent must have set it up. Lyndsay kept asking how I arranged it all. I continued to take credit for it, but refused to tell her how I arranged it. After all, our travel agent wasn't there, so why let all that thoughtfulness go to waste?
The food was excellent! We ate and ate...and ate. Snack here, pizza there...we ordered two entrees at dinner sometimes, just because we could! How awesome is that? Going the week before Thanksgiving was a bad idea though...I ended up gaining a full 10 pounds in the week and a half of cruise and turkey day. Yeah. Pretty crazy.
While on the boat, Lyndsay kept wanting to go and lay out in the sun. As you can see in the picture, she got quite tan. My skin, on the other hand, hadn't seen sunlight in about a year, which made me burn really easily. After the second day, I would sit out by the pool with Lyndsay...wearing pants, long sleeves, and a towel over my head to keep the sun away while I read my book. People might have stared at my goofy-ness, but who cares? I couldn't see them through the towel anyway.
We went on an excursion in Cozumel where we rented Jeeps and drove out to see some "Mayan Ruins," along with a reef to go snorkeling. It was a lot of fun. The "ruins" turned out to be about the size of my desk...not the grand temples I was envisioning (and a bit of a letdown. I always wanted to see the Mayan Temples...Star Wars Episode 4 made them look so cool). The beach and the reef were great! We ended up snorkeling a full mile looking at all the fish and other undersea life. All in all it was a very neat day.
We had a great time, and it definitely made for a memorable celebration of our one year anniversary. You can see more pictures at http://picasaweb.google.com/scottandlyndsay/20061116CrewsCruise.

Fall is here!
To celebrate the fall being here, Lyndsay and I went with our friends Jake and Diane to pick out pumpkins! In Tennessee, pumpkins are a big deal.
In SC and AL, you just went to the grocery store, grabbed a pumpkin, and went home. Not the case here. As soon as it starts to look like fall, every piece of land around middle Tennessee pops up a pumpkin patch. I'm not even kidding.
We decided not to play around with any second rate pumpkin patch...so we went to "Walden Farm," apparently the who's who of pumpkin patches. We drove out to see what all the hooplah was about and let me tell you, there was some serious hooplah. Pumpkins everywhere. Everywhere. and farm animals. and a corn maze (something else I've discovered since moving to TN). and a crafts store where you can make/buy pumpkin crafts. Yeah. That much stuff.
We had a great time, and we got a pumpkin with the high hopes of carving it out before Halloween. ...we ended up leaving it on our doorstep to decorate, and throwing it away a week ago when it started to smell funny when we'd walk outside.
So that was fall. Fall is my (Scott's) favorite season. We had a pretty good one this year. Great colors, good weather...overall, much better than the last two. Now it's time for winter. Lyndsay informed me that actually before winter starts, another season is upon us...Christmas. On Lyndsay's calendar, Christmas season runs from November 1 to January 15...meaning that we are already well into Christmas season. So what have we done to celebrate? Well, so far we've watched "Elf" and strung lights around a fake ficus plant. But that's only the beginning. There is plenty more to come, I'm sure.
In other news, we leave tomorrow for our 1 year anniversary CRUISE! We had to delay the anniversary celebration a bit until I could get off work long enough to celebrate. ...but the time has arrived. Let the celebration begin! We're driving to Mobile tomorrow to board the Carnival "Holiday." We'll tell you all about it when we return!

Happy Anniversary to us!
Yeah, yeah, so it's been a while since we posted anything. Why, you ask? Because now that we've been married for a year, we're are officially a lame married couple. Just kidding.
Actually, life has been pretty crazy here recently. We celebrated our one year anniversary on September 24th...kinda. I (Scott) had to be in Hattiesburg, MS that day for an event, so I had to get up early and leave without getting any time to celebrate. We did get to celebrate a little, though.
Since we moved in, Lyndsay had a place on the wall she had been saving for the piano at her parents house that they had offered to her. Unfortunately, it's super heavy and really old and fragile. There was no way that I would be able to get it out myself, so I knew we'd have to pay to get it moved. We'd already spent all of our budgeted money for the month on paint, and there wasn't enough left over to get it moved anytime soon.
Much to Lyndsay's surprise, she came home from work on Friday to discover the piano sitting in our living room! Being the budget keeper/enforcer in the relationship, I moved some numbers around and figured out a way to get it over.Without her knowing, I had called around Nashville and found someone to move the piano. They also tuned it! (which was good, since the piano just turned 100 years old this year...it kinda needed it)
A funny story about the piano movers. I hired them because they had good rates and seemed pretty knowledgeable. I never actually met them in person, though...only on the phone. Lyndsay's dad met them first, because they showed up that morning to pick up the piano. I got a call around lunchtime from Lyndsay's parents telling me that the piano movers had just come, and to be careful while they were in my house. They kind of had a tone in their voice as if they'd just said goodbye to their piano, and watched it get packed on a truck and taken off into the sunset to never be seen again
....turns out, the piano movers possessed a strange resemblance to the thieves in the Home Alone movies. No kidding. Not that piano movers are supposed to wear suits to work anything...but I would assume that they get their hair cut every now and then. Anyway, they turned out to be really nice guys. They showed up on time, got the piano delivered with no problems, and tuned it up so it sounds great. It was a good personal lesson in not judging based on appearances...because if I'd met them in person first, I probably wouldn't have let them within 100 yards of my piano.
So here's Lyndsay enjoying her piano. Yay. Happy Anniversary to us.

Why is Lyndsay smiling?
This past weekend we went to South Carolina to help my (Scott's) grandmother move from Montgomery to Greenville, and to visit with family. It was fun.
On the way out of town, we stopped for gas...and got way too excited that summer is over and the price of gas is finally going back to bearable. Isn't it nice?

Freedom Experience - Palm Coast, FL
I (Scott) just returned from my first "Freedom Experience" event of the fall. FX is a three day event where we take Brock Gill (the illusionist that I work for), pair him up with a BMX bike team called Chaos on Wheels, throw in some music groups, and rock out with the purpose of telling others about Jesus Christ and His love for us. It's a ton of fun. Think "Billy Graham Crusade" on a MUCH smaller scale, with people sailing through the air on bikes and some crazy stunts. Got it? Good.
Our first event this fall was this past week in Palm Coast, FL. It was awesome to be a part of. We walked into a pretty scary situation--a hurricane sitting in the gulf headed straight for us--but we went to work and prayed that it would die down, go away, or something.
Each night was awesome. We had two music groups with us, Eleventyseven (who coincidentally are from Laurens, SC, and graduated from a high school that my high school played football against) and Group 1 Crew, a new hip-hop group on Word Records. They both put on an amazing show. We also had freestyle skateboarder Tim Byrne there, along with Brock and Chaos on Wheels. All the groups would perform for about 15 minutes, leading up to Brock. Brock would go last. He'd start with a series of illusions, and then end it with a big trick. One night he made a girl disappear. One night he was chained up and put in a coffin filled with water and he escaped. And then one night he caught a bullet in his mouth. Yeah, that's right. In his mouth.
That night was the most worrisome for me because I have to fire the gun. That always freaks me out and gets me all worked up. Luckily for me, he caught it (meaning, I get to keep my job AND I don't have to go to jail for murder. Yippee!).
Each night after doing a big illusion, Brock speaks about how he was changed after he began a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He realized that up until that point he was living life for himself, and that he was believing a lie that he was "good enough" for heaven, when the Bible says that Jesus is the only way to God and heaven, and that being "good" actually has nothing to do about it, because we can't ever be "good enough." Brock's a great communicator...he does a great job of saying very clearly what awkward people like me will stutter around and not really know how to express. Hence why I like working for him so much.
Anyway, the event was incredible. Over 5300 people showed up over the 3 nights. We packed out the local high school gym. And God showed up in a big way--over 280 people (most of whom aren't the church-going types) decided to put Jesus in charge of their life. It was awesome. One of the coolest parts was that Ernesto "mysteriously" dissipated into nothingness, redirected itself away from where we were, and only began to regain strength after the event was completely over. It goes to show you that prayer is an oddly powerful and effective thing.
I'm sure at this point you're rearranging your schedule to attend one of our remaining FX's, right? We've got three left this year: Hattiesburg, MS (Sept 25-27), Williamston, NC (Oct 23-25) and Prattville, AL (Nov 6-8).
Since I'm sure you'd like a little taste of what FX is like, go ahead and double click on the big arrow in the middle of the video window below. You can watch a video of A.J., one of our BMX bikers, landing a double tailwhip...a stinking hard trick to do...and a backflip. And the crowd goes wild... (you probably need high speed internet for this to play well...)

We got it!
yay! We closed on Thursday, though we didn't really expect to up until the last minute. We spent the weekend moving in. We hope to have some pictures up soon. We'd like to say a big thank you to Gresham, Josie, Lyndsay's parents, and Jake and Diane for helping us move all of our stuff around.
We are hoping to get some pictures up soon, and have a housewarming party some time in the near future. As for now, we're having a great time unpacking everything and rediscovering things that we forgot we owned. I (Scott) found 6 or 7 shirts I had forgotten about. Lyndsay discovered a wok and a waffle iron we recieved as wedding presents that had been packed away for the last 10 months.

...maybe...
The day after I posted here that we would be closing on Wednesday, I got a call from the builders saying that they were unable to close that day...the lawyer's office was closed for some reason. To me that says, "Find a new lawyer for the day..." but to them it says, "Take the day off and delay everything we're doing."
So our colsing has been delayed again. I think it's bad luck to post exactly when it has been scheduled for, but we'll let you know as soon as we sign the papers if/when it all comes together.

The end could be near!
...or maybe not. But we have a closing date again, and I (Scott) feel really good about this one. It's going to be Wednesday August 9th at 2 PM. With any luck this could be it! (though I still told Sears not to bring the fridge until Saturday, just so I don't jinx it)
Good things come to those who wait, right? Right....

...more of the same...
It's Sunday. We're still townhomeless.
On Friday, we did our final walkthrough at 1:30 PM, as expected. Everything went great. The builders had finished everything in record time. They had to do a ton of stuff to get it all ready on time, but they did it. Big thumbs up to Blake, our contractor, and to Centex Homes. They did an A+ job all the way through to completion of the townhouse.
So now all we have to do is buy it, right? Right.
So we get the call at 2:00 PM that we need to provide some more paperwork for our loan. We race around town getting it all faxed in, and head over to our appointment at 3:00 PM at the lawyer's office to close. We call the office ahead of time to verify our appointment, and it's still on, so we show up.
We sit in the lobby for about 20 minutes, and then our wonderful mortgage broker calls and tells us that there's no way we can close today, and that he can't understand why we would even show up.
...after some time passes, I tell him that I can't understand why he didn't show up. We had set the meeting at three. (Everything I learned in business school said that if you aren't going to be at a meeting, you call the people and say you aren't coming. And then you set a new time for the meeting. Obviously, he felt that doing neither of the above were necessary.)
So now we're incredibly disappointed, our family has flown and driven hundreds of miles to be here to help us move, and we're stuck tootling around Nashville, wasting our weekend doing nothing.
We're really not sure when or if this deal will ever go through now. While talking with the mortgage broker, he outlined three or four more things that have to happen before the deal can go through, all of which we'd never heard of before...confirming my original suspicion that these people have apparently never done anything like this before...or they would have been able to communicate the hurdles involved in this process long before we ran smack into them.
So...maybe we'll seal the deal this week. Or maybe August. Or maybe never. Who knows?

Another hurdle...
Well, it's probably the same hurdle technically. The knuckleheads at CTX have finally gotten our loan document to the Tennessee Housing Agency for approval. Since an 8 hour turn around is obviously impossible, we'll be closing on Friday at 3. Maybe. Hopefully.
I sure hope so, since my(Scott's) family is coming in tomorrow to help move. Since we won't be able to move, we can instead sit around and talk about how incredibly hot it is here. ...yay.

Hitting an obstacle...
Today was originally the day we were going to close on our town house. Unfortunately, that is not the case…
When we went for our final walkthrough last week, we found a wall that had a fairly large bow in it. I (Scott) being a stickler for detail, was instantly annoyed by it and demanded that it be corrected. I was met with opposition not by the contractor, but by Lyndsay, who determined that out of the 40 or so walls that were in the town house, having 39 straight ones was good enough…why bother asking for more.
The more I thought about it, the more it bothered me. The worst part was that it was right next to the toilet in the master bath. I was basically guaranteed a 3 to 5 minute time every day where I would be forced to sit down and look straight at it. I knew that wouldn’t would be good, so I called the contractor and he was happy fix it, though that would require push pushing closing back to Wednesday.
I also was glad the closing got moved back because it was looking like our financing was not going to be ready on time. Last Tuesday I learned that our mortgage would need five business days to get fully approved. In talking with our broker last week, I assumed we were talking about this step because he was going to submit my loan for approval. This afternoon I received an email from him notifying me that it would be submitted for approval tomorrow. What does this mean?
Not too sure. Assuming we actually get approved--which is still a maybe--we might actually get to move in sometime this month. And it means our financing people are slower than slow. And they don’t seem to care, really…which is the most frustrating part. CTX Mortgage gets two thumbs down.

Our new town house...
In honor of it being a mere 10 days until our closing, I thought I'd post this old picture I found. We took it a while ago--now everything is finished. There is now nice sod where you see the bobcat bulldozer. And everything is paved too.
Since a picture is worth 1000 words, I'll let it provide you with the rest of words in this entry.
Yay!

A mid-summer update
It’s been forever since we posted here, and I felt the need to bring everyone up to speed with what’s going on with us, so here’s the update! Note: This isn’t a funny update, so don’t get your hopes up or anything.
With our townhouse: We do a walkthrough with the contractor on Wednesday (July 5), and we’ll close in two weeks on July 17th! We’re really excited. We’re still going back and forth on crazy details like “should the fridge be the same brand as the oven and microwave?” and “would this room look better in ‘tan’ or ‘beige’?”
Lyndsay’s job: Lyndsay has a job! …at least for a little while, anyhow. She’s working with Favorite Nurses, a temp agency that matches her up somewhere every week. She likes it a lot so far, but it’s just a short term thing until something better comes along.
With summer weddings: So far we have been to a wedding each of the last three weekends, with two more coming up in the next two weekends! We have been lucky enough to get to see our friends Chris and Sallie, Gresham and Josie, and Carter and Kelli all get married. We’ve had a great time seeing friends and eating good food.
With funny things: Yeah, I guess they’ve been happening, but none are coming to mind right now. Lyndsay went to bed in her pajamas and woke up in her swimsuit last week with no clue what happened during the night. I guess she got really excited about the summer. That was pretty funny.
Anyhow, we’ll keep you posted as the time arrives and we begin the move and unpacking process. Have a great fourth of July!

We have a (town) house!
Today was definitely one of the more eventful days in our lives since we've been married. Scott and I signed all the paperwork (54 pages of it) and put down a payment on a new townhouse in Brentwood, TN. We're very excited. It's three bedrooms with a bonus room thingy on the second level. What's best about it is location, location, location. They are building a Starbucks along with about 40 other stores within walking distance! So I guess that means you'll have to come visit us soon! We're supposed to move in at the end of July. We actually ended up getting a steal of a deal because the people who had bought it originally just backed out of the deal (before the townhouse was completed) and it just became available. That's wonderful because all the other options weren't available until December and this one's available in a month and a half. Crazy!
Scott says to put a "link" and I'm not real sure what that is but he told me to type http://www.centexhomes.com/Nashville/N45733.asp. We're in the Crawford! See you soon!

The Countdown
For anyone who doesn't know, Scott and I are moving to Nashville, Tennessee this Friday (May 19th). We are going to be living with our generous family members for a few months and then hopefully move into a house of some sorts. I don't have a job as of yet, but I'll start looking once I get there. Our poor apartment looks like something exploded and I probably should be packing instead of writing this but being logical isn't really my thing. This week (the designated packing week) Scott is away at a work retreat for four days leaving me (the nonorganized procrastinator) to pack. I guess he's not always logical either. It should be interesting!! By the way, Scott wants to document yet another Sleeping Lyndsay adventure:
L: "…so I’ll just go over here so you don’t get confused.”
S: what?
L: “There’s just a lot of change over here, you know, nickels and dimes, and they’re falling into the crease and I don’t want them to get confused with the acrin, you know?”
I think you all should come to visit just so you can enjoy my sleeping moments. I guess I should be getting back to packing now. See you soon.

...Still saying "Thank You"...
Yesterday I (Scott) was doing a little spring cleaning when I noticed some papers had fallen behind our computer desk. I reached around and pulled them out...and was shocked to see that they were thank you notes that had been written but never mailed. We've been married for 7 months tomorrow, and they still haven't been mailed! So...I give up.
They were for Carter, Chris Smith's family, Ed and April Heztel, The Crapets (from FBC Hoover), and Jennifer. I have no idea who Jennifer is...Lyndsay only wrote her first name on the envelope with no address.
So, to Carter, the Smiths, Ed, April, Crapet Family, and Jennifer, thank you for our great gifts. I apologize for our ignorance in thanking you thus far, but know that Lyndsay and I are enjoying our gifts (except Jennifer, I think I actually remember what each of you got us, and they were all very nice gifts)
As readers of this blog, if you see any of these people, it is now your responsiblity to pass along our thank-you. As for Jennifer...well, I guess you can just thank anyone named Jennifer who might have given us a wedding present. That oughta do the trick.

Us vs. Blockbuster, somebody won but we're not sure who...
Yesterday, Scott took the day off, so we decided to see a dollar movie. Great idea, entertainment for only two dollars. So we get there and naturally there is a reason why they're only a dollar. There was nothing worth watching. So now the two options are buying a cheap Wal-mart DVD or renting from Blockbuster. We rationalized that buying a movie from Wal-mart could potentially be cheaper than renting, when you think about late fees. We got to Wal-mart and our movie choices went from bad to worse, definitely not worth spending $7.50 on (us Crews' are so cheap). Finally, after much negotiation we ended up in Blockbuster to get our $4.50 rental...dum dum dum....
We step up to the counter with our proud selection of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith". As we are about to rent the movie, the cashier makes THE COMMENT. "We have a 'buy two previewed movies and get two free' deal going on right now." Of course, I think "What a bargain!" and I hear the expected "Ugh" out of Scott. I said, "Maybe we can just look and see what they have."
Then we saw it..."Mr. and Mrs. Smith" $10.00 to be ours forever. Then other movies started to pop out. "Oh look Scott, Walk the Line. We haven't seen that yet. Ooh, Bewitched. I know it got bad reviews but I thought it was cute movie! And Just Like Heaven...Scott look at all the options. I've already picked out my four." Scott then did the unthinkable. He pried my fingers off the DVDs and began setting them back on the shelf. "Aww Scott, you're mean." He was feeling guilty and then he saw it. Cinderella Man. So we compromised two for me and two for him. The price tag? A mere $28.00. So much for being cheap. I still think it's a bargain, and as for Scott...well the jury is still out.

Wrong Number!
Last weekend Lyndsay was cooking up something special but needed a couple of last minute ingredients. Being the good husband that I am, I (Scott) volunteered to run to the store and grab them. Okay...actually Lyndsay volunteered me for the job. But, I got up and did it. Strawberries and potato chips. Sure thing.
I walked out to the elevator and on the way down thought that it would be funny to call her, act dumb, and ask her to repeat the list again as if I forgot. Why? I don't know. It seemed funny to me. So I picked up my phone, found her name on my recent calls list, and pushed send. It rang...and...
"Hello?"
Me in a dumb voice:"I miss you already..." (it was the best I could come up with)
...awkward pause...
"Hello? Who is this?"
Me:"Lyndsay? ...I mean, is this Lyndsay?"
"No, this is Lyndsay's mother."
Ah! I just accidentally hit on my mother-in-law! How on earth did this happen? I was going to hang up out of embarrassment, but then I remembered that since I actually knew the person I was talking to, that wouldn't really escape the situation. So I just start apologizing, trying not to say anything else stupid. It was pretty funny. We ended up having a nice chat though.
It turned out that the day before Lyndsay had used my phone to call and wish her dad a happy birthday...which was saved on my phone under her name...so I dialed that number. So embarrassing!

Lyndsay goes off the low-carb diet. Thank goodness!
Lyndsay decided the low-carb diet wasn't cutting it, and she went off it earlier this week. Within about 4 hours of eating a slice or two of bread, she was back to her old self, bouncing off the walls and being herself. I (Scott) hadn't realized how much it sapped her energy...but it did. She's been back to normal for about 4 days now. Yay!
We've been meaning to update this for a while now...I went to update it yesterday morning, and my computer died! The power supply decided it had enough. So what did I do? Like any good Comp Sci major, I just pulled the spare computer out of the closet and plugged it up instead! I mean, doesn't everyone have a spare computer in their closet, ready to go at a moment's notice? Dad got this computer back in 1999...and it's still going strong (knock on wood)!
We're going to have some free time this weekend, so hopefully we'll have some time to share some more stories here. Hey, call us to hang out if you're in Birmingham! We can go anywhere to eat again! So exciting!

Lyndsay goes on the low-carb diet
Lyndsay has decided to go on the Atkins diet. The Atkins diet is great for the person on it, because they lose weight. It’s horrible for the person who lives with the person on the diet, because I have to eat meal after meal with no carbs, but then to satisfy my carb cravings, I just have to throw down a slice of bread or two. Blah.
If anyone wants to go get a pizza, call me. I’m dying for a pizza.
So last week, Lyndsay decided to cook up some chicken parmesan. Since she was going to work the next couple days, she decided to get ahead and make about 10 servings of it. The first night was great. It was delicious. Lyndsay couldn’t eat the noodles, so I got my chicken with double noodles. Fine with me…
…until the next day when I went to grab some leftovers for lunch and noticed Lyndsay took a double portion of chicken to work with her and left me with a double portion of noodles. So, like a good husband, I pulled out a plate and proceeded to eat the noodles. Not very good, but I could handle it.
But then the next day, it happened again…and the next day…AGAIN. Finally we finished the bowl. By the time we got done, I was so sick of eating noodles in red sauce I was about to throw up. I ate so many noodles with marinara sauce that the next two meals I ate, even though they were something completely different, still tasted like noodles with marinara sauce…it was all my brain knew when processing taste.
I’ve recovered now from the traumatic noodle experience, but it’s still chicken this and turkey that here at meal time. If anyone wants to go get a pizza, just give me a call…

Apparently there's a vehicle for Crews'n...
Lyndsay and I saw this van while we were walking through downtown Phoenix back in January. It's a van for some kind of youth services childrens' home. But if you'll notice, right above the driver window it definitely says "Crews'n Healthmobile." We have no idea why...but isn't it cool?
Yeah. Not really relevant to anything, but I finally got my digital camera connected to my computer again, so I'm making up for lost time.

You can have your cake, but you might not want to eat it too
This weekend we celebrated Scott's birthday with his family. I gave him an XM radio complete with satellite stuff. I hate it when I buy gifts and I'm not exactly sure what it is. But, Scott loves it. Whenever Scott receives a new "toy", he always spends time attempting to tell me how this toy is the best toy ever, and I'm thinking "I thought the last toy was the best toy ever". I guess the toys just keep getting better. He also becomes obsessed with figuring out how every button works and if he pushes it what will happen. Then comes the challenging task of teaching me the how to find the power button.
Cake? Oh yeah I forgot I was supposed to be talking about cake. At his family "party", his mom provided the cake and of course just like every good birthday cake there are always leftovers. His mom carefully placed the cake back in it's container, and away we were to his grandparents old house to meet up with his dad for one more birthday gift. On the way, we hit a speed bump and the lid popped off the cake. So my natural instinct was to put it back on (after I took a little snack of icing). Somehow in the process of putting the lid on and the next curve, I felt the cake (uncovered) slip off my lap.
I looked down at the cake splattered in Scott's (Mr. Clean) Camry. Cake was everywhere, on the gear shift, on the console, and most importantly on ME. The worst part was I had to continue holding onto this mangled cake without the lid to make sure nothing else happened. (I never understood that logic, but anyways that was my orders) By the time we arrived I was to my elbows in cake and in trouble. But Scott being the forgiving guy he is, forgave me and now we can sorta laugh about it until we get in his car and it smells like cake. The moral of the story is: never ride in a car with me and any type of food!

an old picture...
While Lyndsay's off at her nurse training class this weekend, I (Scott) seized the opportunity to go Parris Island for Mitch's graduation from Marine boot camp. It was great...hopefully I'll have pictures up soon.
I'd like to pause here and say that I did order a camera cable off eBay, so I should have my new pictures up soon...
Anyway, I stopped in Greenville at my parents house to spend a couple of nights before driving all the way back to Alabama. While using my parents computer, I found this old picture of Matt and Lyndsay. It was taken this past December at my Dad's birthday party. I thought it was pretty good, so I put it up here on the internet.
Matt moved in across the street from me when I was in first grade. Our parents still live next to each other. Matt works for InterVarsity at Furman. He has one of these crazy blog things too...if you want to read his, I have link to it over there on the right side of the screen. This weekend he's at a camp somewhere, so we don't get to hang out. But I like him enough anyway to put a picture of him here, so here he is.

The World in a Paragraph
Lyndsay's birthday was January 27th. She has developed a habit of celebrating the entire month. Scott, realizing the importance of her birthday, has stepped up to the plate of going above and beyond the call of duty in regards to her birthday. This year he surprised her with Disney on ice ("Finding Nemo") in the lovely town of Phoenix, Arizona. The first day they arrived, they saw the Disney show. It was amazing and well done. There were a bunch of loud kids around, but they soon fell asleep since it was passed their bed time. Thank goodness for bed times! It was more enjoyable than the Lion King broadway play in Birmingham. The next day Scott and Lyndsay decided to go shopping in Scottsdale. Scottsdale did not look that far away on the map, and since Scott had opted to not get rental car, they decided they would walk. Six miles and a few ghettos later, they realized they were not even halfway to Scottsdale. Looking at each other with tired bodies, they decided to get a cab. They called a cab not once or twice but four times, which could have probably payed for the rental car. Oh well...live and learn. We had a great time bonding in the ghetto of Phoenix.
This weekend we are seperating as Scott goes to watch part of his new family (Mitch) graduate from the Marines and Lyndsay abandons him to attend a nursing conference.
We should have pictures soon assuming Scott finds the camera cable or breaks down to buy a new one. See, Scott loses things too.

Skinny trees are no good!
Lyndsay is a Christmas fanatic. However, this year marriage brings quite a spin on Christmas. Scott being the frugal spender he is, decided to wait to after Christmas to get the new family Christmas tree on the after Christmas sale. Hence, this Christmas' tree consisted of a 4 1/2 foot tree with 12 candy canes, lights and five ornaments. Lyndsay was more than disappointed.
We were at wal-mart together just after Christmas and noticed a Christmas special....75% off everything! Lyndsay got very excited and began finding things that we just had to have. They even had several different kinds of trees. $120-$150 dollar trees for only $30-$40 bucks! What a bargain....so Lyndsay found the tallest, prelit tree possible and bought it. 9ft tall. Taller than Scott!!!!!
Tonight we decided to open it up and see what it looked like. We unpacked all of the pieces, argued about how to assemble it and finally got it together. We plugged it in and bright light shone throughout the room. We stepped back to admire it and noticed the entire middle section and half the bottom was not lit at all. Not only that, but the tree was half the width of a normal tree. Scott groaned and Lyndsay cried.
So now it's back in the box and we're going back to wal-mart to see what we can find. Ugh.
